On Saturday, May 19, 2012, 240 participants, sponsors, and 50+ volunteers came together for the Footprints for Hope 5K Run and 3 Mile/1 Mile Walk. The event took place at Connections for Hope, which is a partnership of service providers and nonprofit organizations, including LCNV. Footprints for Hope was a great success! The Literacy Council and its partners raised over $32,750!
Footprints for Hope participants had fun running or walking, and socialized at the end of the race over generously donated food and drinks. Connections for Hope held a raffle and there were a variety of prizes, which included tickets to a National’s game, as well as admission to “The Music Man” at Arena Stage. There was even dancing and hoola-hooping, as a DJ played song after song, keeping participants motivated and energized.
The Literacy Council of Northern Virginia would like to thank everyone who supported Footprints for Hope! Specifically, we’d like to thank our sponsors, Booz Allen Hamilton and BB&T. We would also like to extend a big thank you to LCNV board members John Odenwelder and Victor Pa, our top fundraisers!
