During our 50th anniversary year, Acumen Solutions was inducted into LCNV’s Legacy Circle, an esteemed group of donors who have given in excess of $50,000 to support LCNV’s adult learners over the last 10 years. This close-knit partnership began just two years ago, when Saurabh Verma joined the LCNV Board of Directors. Saurabh works at Acumen Solutions as Senior Director of Global Services. Saurabh joined the board because “LCNV’s mission is very close to my heart and is something I really believe in. By empowering individuals with English literacy, we will make them feel part of our society and provide them with confidence to efficiently and effectively contribute in their day-to-day personal and professional lives.”

Saurabh and his colleagues at Acumen Solutions immediately plunged into a three-month pro bono consulting project for LCNV, improving the organization’s customized database to enhance the ease of generating reports. Saurabh and his team quickly became LCNV’s go-to resource for technology-related questions!

In October 2011, LCNV was one of ten local beneficiaries of the 3rd Annual Acumen Solutions Race for a CauseTM. With LCNV’s small staff, we especially appreciate this contribution: Margie Johnson, Hillary Murray, and Dani Johnson at Acumen Solutions take care of all (and I mean ALL) event details, while LCNV staff remains focused on serving our students.

Acumen Solutions’ partnership continued into LCNV’s 50th anniversary year when several Acumen Solutions employees celebrated this milestone at the One for the Books gala, and participated in the 4th Annual Acumen Solutions Race for a CauseTM!

LCNV is not the only local nonprofit that has benefited from this tremendously generous company. On Sunday, January 13, 2013,The Washington Post featured Acumen Solutions for its charitable contributions. Senior leaders at Acumen Solutions currently serve on 23 nonprofit boards, and during 2012, employees donated over 3,000 volunteer hours valued at approximately $575,000 to charities, with $200,000 of that from pro-bono projects, $180,000 from the flagship event, and the remainder from other ad hoc efforts and sponsorships. The Acumen Solutions Race for a CauseTM has generated nearly $500,000 alone for local nonprofits over the last four years, and the company has contributed over $3 million dollars to charitable causes since inception in 1999.

On behalf of the students, staff, board, and volunteers of the Literacy Council, I extend our sincerest appreciation to Saurabh and the entire Acumen Solutions team for all that you have done during these last two years! We applaud you for truly living your core values.
